Access to data and its use are increasingly decisive for competition and justify the need for digital transformation of established business models and processes within the manufacturing industry. The development of the necessary data basis, including targeted data analysis, as well as products, services and business models based on it in the industrial context requires far-reaching investments.

The aim of this expertise is to determine the current maturity of industrial companies in the fields of action of building, using and monetising an industrial database, to work out current challenges in these areas and to present concrete options for action. These options for action are intended to show ways in which the degree of utilisation of the database can be increased and how the potentials of monetarisation can be exploited. Another goal is to evaluate the role of industrial data as a means of payment.
